They look like gems: People are going crazy for colorful corn

If you love corn, you will surely like this colorful one as well. Namely, it is completely the same as the normal variety, but instead of yellow, it is dominated by the glitter of multicolored corn grains.

This incredibly beautiful and unique corn became an internet sensation when a photo of a colorful corn cob was posted on various social networking platforms.

Since the clip looked unrealistically bright with beads glittering like rare gems, many people didn’t even believe it was real, so they claimed the photo was processed.

But colorful corn is more than real, it is not photoshopped or genetically modified, but it is a variety with open pollination that is adorned with different shades of pink, purple, yellow, green, and blue.

Corn is also known as ‘Indian’ or ‘calico’ corn and is native to North America. It is a type of multicolored corn and is obtained by crossing several varieties. Beautiful, transparent grains of various colors are grown in a relatively hot climate and can be harvested approximately 110-120 days after planting when the shells are dry and brown.

Unfortunately, this incredibly beautiful corn cannot be eaten as ordinary, but it needs to be processed - grind it into corn flour or use it for tortillas.

On TikTok, people also went crazy for it, and TikToker @islandgardenstead shared on her profile the colorful corn she grew herself.

- This year I grew colorful corn in my sister's garden and it was worth the wait! So far, I have only opened a few clips, but each one is like unwrapping a gift - she said in the video.
