NETFLIX has confirmed information about the theft of valuable props used in the multi-award-winning series and global streaming platform, “ The Crown”.
Allegedly, numerous items and props worth as much as 200 thousand dollars were stolen last Wednesday night, while the production was shooting nearby. More than 350 props were taken during this theft, including a replica Fabergé egg, a grandfather clock, a dressing table, crystal glasses, and silver and gold candle holders.
A police investigation is still going on. The tabloid “Sun” reported that the incident took place near Doncaster, Yorkshire in northern England in the last week of production. A Netflix PR confirmed the veracity of the information to the PA news agency but did not want to comment further.
The fifth sequel to the lavish hit series is set to begin airing in late 2022 with a new stellar cast and will cover the late 1990s period of time. Veteran Imelda Staunton will take on the role of Queen Elizabeth II. by Olivia Colman, and Lesley Manville will play Princess Margaret.
Elizabeth Debicki will play Diana, Princess of Wales, played by Emma Corrin before her. Screenwriter Peter Morgan has confirmed that the sixth, final sequel to the popular series will also be filmed.
“The Crown” is great and definitely worth watching. It is one of Netflix's jewels in the prestigious category, the one that brings awards, the category that set the production of one streaming service in the race for the Oscars. We are sure that this show will earn money for the whole team, but that is not its main task, its main task is prestige.
Don't forget that the whole team behind the series - even though it's Netflix- is actually completely British. Netflix gave all the freedom to British filmmakers, specifically Peter Morgan and then his associates. So, a series about Great Britain and one of its most recognizable phenomena, which they created themselves.
There are a lot of stories about how the royal family is presented and how much that way changes through the seasons. Let's not forget that the world has changed even from the moment the broadcast of the 2016 series began, let alone from the beginning of the time we are talking about in the series itself.
