Most Popular Color In Interior Design

According to color psychology, or how various colors impact our emotional being, individuals feel comfortable and secure when they are surrounded by brown. Why? Its links with the earth: a peaceful and robust element that physically keeps us anchored.

It's maybe not surprising, therefore, that after two years of pandemic uncertainty, brown is seeing a big comeback in home décor and interior design.

Another aspect that contributes to Brown's popularity? Warm minimalism is on the rise. Minimalism, or the interior aesthetic of form and color simplicity, has too frequently been perceived as all-white-everything: white sofas, white walls, white accents. Yes, it's beautiful, but it's also stark. And, with everyone at home looking at their walls due to the epidemic, that monochrome design was the last thing many of us wanted.

Every year, new trends in interior design emerge, just as they do in fashion. The prestigious Vogue magazine, which has not only controlled fashion trends for a long time, must first approve of both of them.

Vogue met with well-known architects and interior designers to determine which hue will be the most popular in home décor in 2022, and the answer is brown.

According to the magazine, the rising popularity is also related to the rise of so-called warm minimalism in home design. Minimalism and the art of minimalism in décor were overly reduced to white, resulting in aesthetically very cool spaces.

Since we all began spending more time at home over the previous two years, there has been a request for equally neutral, yet warmer solutions.

A brown color palette was used in this case. This does not, however, mean that beige couches and kitchens will make a comeback in the next years. The most popular brown hues, on the other hand, are the darker ones, like chocolate or caramel, all the way down to muted tones that almost border on dark gray or black.

Always brown, never gray. That is my motto. Shades of brown bring warmth, down-to-earthiness, and peace to the interior. They can serve as a compliment, but also as a base for other details in dominant colors, says designer Jake Arnold.
