A Mom's recipe: a great snack for children!

This is my recipe created with the desire to make some salty pastries full of fillings as soon as possible in the hope that my picky children would at least eat them.

   Ingredients:

  • 300ml of lukewarm milk
  • about 500g of flour
  • 2 tablespoons yeast or half a cube
  • teaspoon of sugar
  • 100ml oil
  • 1 eggwhite
  • 200g ham (or anything your kids like)
  • 150g butter or margarine
  • a couple of tablespoons of sour cream mixed with ketchup or cheese
  • egg for coating
  • for sprinkling sesame, flax (whatever you like)

Preparation:

Be sure to heat the milk, whisk the egg whites in a bowl, then add milk, sugar, two tablespoons of flour, and yeast, then whisk and leave the yeast to rise for ten minutes. Then add the flour and oil but slowly while kneading. Depending on the flour, you may need more. You will know that it is well mixed when the dough does not stick to your fingers. Just lightly coat the dough with oil so that it does not stick, then leave it in a bowl to rise in a warm place and cover with a cloth for half an hour.

When it grows, stir a little and stretch it on the table as much as you can in the shape of a large rectangle, then coat it with the mixed sour cream and ketchup. I sometimes whip feta with ketchup because my kids love it too. Then arrange the ham and grate butter or margarine, it serves to make the triangles crispier but also juicier, believe me, it's not tasty without it. Then roll the dough as tight as possible and cut it diagonally so that you get triangles. Then arrange the triangles on baking paper in a baking tray and coat with beaten egg. For this amount, I always save the yolks from the egg white that I put in the dough and another egg. Sprinkle with sesame and flax on top, I sometimes put pumpkin seeds or peeled sunflower. Place in the oven at 180 degrees for 20 minutes but be sure not to burn it accidentally as each oven bakes differently.

These triangles are nicer than pastries from the bakery so I hope they will become a welcome pastry in your house as well.
