A movie will be made about the life of Michael Jackson

The director Antoine Fuqua will shoot the biographical picture "Michael" about the world-famous pop artist Michael Jackson (1958-2009).

"In my opinion, there is no artist with the power, charisma, and pure musical genius of Jackson. Watching his work influenced me to make videos. His music and those images are part of my outlook on life, and the opportunity to tell his story on screen, with his music, is overwhelming," said Fuqua.

The director of "Training Days" (2001) and "The Righteous" (2016) noted that his early works were videos and that the fusion of film and music is now an important element of his identity.

The screenplay for "Michael" will be written by John Logan, famed for "Gladiator" and "The Aviator," and the producers will be Graham King, who worked on the film "Bohemian Rhapsody" on musician Freddie Mercury, as well as John Branca and John McCain, co-executives of Jenkson Legacies.

It is unknown who could play Jackson, who was famous for bleaching his skin among other things.

Growing up in a musical African-American household, Jackson came to stardom as a youngster in his house band, the Jackson Five, before embarking on one of the world's most successful independent singing careers.

He recorded the best-selling album of all time "Thriller" (1982), which has sold over 70 million copies to date, thanks to seven hits including "Billy Jean" and "Beat It".

Jackson's global success continued with hits like "Bad," "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," "Black or White," and "Remember the Time," but his career took a knock after many allegations of sexual harassment of children. Despite the fact that he was acquitted by the court.

In 2009, he died abruptly of a heart attack while preparing for a comeback tour.

"According to Lionsgate, the film will deal with all parts of Jackson's life, but it is unclear how much of the late music icon's many controversies since it is being filmed in cooperation with his estate, which has defended him against accusations of child sexual abuse," writes The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the magazine, the allegations against Jackson were brought back to the forefront by the documentary "Leaving Neverland" (2019).
