A new video: Will Smith's apology
Smith explained why he didn't apologize to Rock during his acceptance speech after winning the Oscar
Will Smith said he "deeply regrets" hitting Chris Rock on stage during this year's Oscars. According to CNN, Smith posted a video on his official Instagram account, which begins with the words "It's been a minute."
Smith explained why he didn't apologize to Rock during his acceptance speech after winning the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in King Richard.
"Then my consciousness was clouded. I sent Chris a message and he said he wasn't ready to talk yet and would get back to me when he was ready. So I'll tell you this Chris - I'm sorry. My behavior was unacceptable and I'm here whenever you want to talk," he said.

He also apologized to his mother, the comedian's family, and Tony Rock, Chris' brother who played in the sitcom All of Us directed by Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
"We had a great relationship. Tony Rock was 'my man', but what happened probably means that the situation is irreparable," he pointed out.
Let's recall that Will Smith, at the Oscars, when he went on stage, hit comedian Chris Rock, the host of the ceremony, after he joked about Smith's wife's shaved head. Jada Pinkett Smith lost her hair due to alopecia areata, an autoimmune condition that causes hair loss.
The actor denied allegations that he hit Rock at the urging of his wife and apologized to her and his children for that action. He added that he had "spent the previous three months trying to understand what happened at that moment."
"I won't tell you everything now, but I can say this - there is no part of me that thinks that was appropriate behavior," concluded Will Smith.
