A series about Frida Kahlo is being filmed

After the film with the fantastic Selma Hayek, Frida Kahlo, an artist who had an equally turbulent artistic as well as personal life, will get her series. Although it seems that everything about passionate Frida has been told and shown so far, the series should give us a completely new insight into her life, at least claims Mara Romeo Kahlo, her great-niece.

The goal of the series is to show Frida the way we haven't seen her before. We want to show how she really lived based on what her family knows about her” - said Mara Romeo Kahlo, reports "Variety".

The series will be produced by Miami-based BTF Media and a person caring for Frida Kahlo’s legacy. Frida became famous for her colorful self-portraits, which had various themes, such as the human body and death. Many considered her a heroine because she used her life pain, both physical and emotional, as strength and turned it into art.

This series will enable Frida to be shown as a woman whose art represents hope and power. It will enable her family to show the public how her legacy continues to inspire thousands of people around the world "- said Alfonso Duran, general director of the legacy of Frida Kahlo.

Each episode is planned to reveal little-known different aspects of her life. It is still unknown exactly who will play Frida Kahlo this time and when and where the series will start broadcasting.

In 1925, Frida had a terrible accident. The car in which she was traveling hit the tram and the consequences were broken bones and legs. The artist had to undergo 8 difficult surgeries and spend several months in the hospital ward before she could walk again. During this difficult time, Frieda was really obsessed with painting. A special easel was built for her so that she could paint while she was lying on the bed, and there was a mirror above the ceiling, which is why there are so many self-portraits in Frida’s works. Indeed, most of her work is closely linked to her personal life. For example, the painting “Henry Ford Hospital”, which shows a woman with dead babies around and empty reproductive organs, speaks of artistic pain because she never managed to become a mother.
