A touching story about fatherhood and love: the movie "The Kitchen"
An announcement has arrived for "The Kitchen", the directorial debut of Daniel Kaluuya.
A touching story about fatherhood and love for the community is presented in the first trailer for the SF drama adventure "The Kitchen".It is the directorial debut of Oscar-winning Daniel Kaluuya ( Judas and the Black Messiah ), who directed the film with Kibwe Tavares and he also wrote the script with Joe Murtagh. Kaluuya has already proven himself several times as an excellent actor, that is, in front of the camera, and now the time has come to show what he is like behind the camera.
"The Kitchen" is a dystopian SF story about the relatively near future, set in London where the differences between the rich and the poor have been pushed to the limit. All the poor are driven to a part of the city called The Kitchen, and each of them tries to escape from the situation there. There we meet the loner Izi ( Kane Robinson ), who lives in the kitchen only because he has to and he is desperately trying to find a way out. At the same time, there is 12-year-old Benji ( Jedaiah Bannerman ), who lost his mother and he is looking for the rest of his family. The most unusual couple will struggle to create some connection in a system that is against them.
Even at its frailest, however, “The Kitchen” gets by on the mist of its fury, and on its tender depiction of a trampled underclass staving off defeat through small, simple acts of care and empathy. Notably, even the “dangerous” crowd here thrives on its own gentle sense of community: Staples’ crew hijacks grocery vans to reallocate goods to the needy and feeds its own with jovial pancake breakfasts.
Along with Robinson and Bannerman, Hope Ikpoku Jr, Ian Wright, BackRoad Gee, Cristale, Teija Kabs and Demmy Ladipo are staring. We expect the drama "The Kitchen" on Netflix on January 19, 2024.
