Angelina Jolie: 'This law is coming too late'

Actress Angelina Jolie visited Capitol Hill yesterday to help a bipartisan group of senators present a new version of the U.S. Violence Against Women Act, and she could barely hold back tears in her emotional speech. Jolie took her daughter Zahara to Washington, and she was overwhelmed with emotion during a speech at a well-attended press conference.

She condemned Congress' silence on gender-based violence. She vehemently criticized the negligence and non-adoption of the new draft law for almost ten years. She wanted to pay tribute to the children who are terrified and suffering at the moment, as well as to many people for whom this law comes too late.

"I want to support all those women that were passing through this system with little or no support continue to suffer pain and trauma due to abuse. Young people who survived the abuse and became stronger, not because of the child protection system, but in spite of that ", the actress continued.

Recall, Angelina accused Brad Pitt in March last year of domestic violence that occurred during her two-year marriage to the actor, which he denied. Shortly after the couple filed for divorce in 2016, it was revealed that the FBI and Social Services in Los Angeles reported that Brad Pitt verbally and physically assaulted his son on a private plane.

Allegedly, Jolie filed for divorce precisely because of the actor's conflict with Maddox on a private plane. Pitt reportedly had an argument with Angelina and the son jumped in between them to defend his mother. It was rumored that the actor hit Maddox and that the case was investigated by social services as well as police. Pitt was acquitted.

Although many commented on Angelina's speech as an attempt to present a false image of Brad in public and thus gain full custody of the children, she broke many people's prejudices about gender-based violence in yesterday's speech. But there are still those who think that this is just the result of good acting and that she uses her voice only for the purpose of self-promotion after the divorce from Brad Pit. The former ex-spouses officially divorced in April 2019, after they separated in September 2016, they still have not agreed on all the details of the divorce, nor have they resolved the custody of their six children: Maddox (20), Pax (18), Zahara (16), Shiloh (15), and thirteen-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. Earlier this year, US Weekly received confirmation that a judge had decided that Angelina and Brad would share custody of the children, which Angelina is not happy about. By the way, while he hopes to calm down his relationship with Angelina, Brad is in no hurry to find a new partner. Recently one newspaper wrote that Brad is in a very bad mental state due to the conflict with Angelina, and there was a lot of talk about Brad's bad relationship with their oldest children.
