Brad Pitt is suing his ex-wife!

Brad Pitt is suing his ex-wife Angelina Jolie, accusing her of illegally selling her share of their French estate Miraval. Pitt claims they have agreed that none of them will sell their part of the castle without first consulting with each other. They were married there in 2014 and now it is a profitable vineyard.

But the actor in the lawsuit claims that although the vineyard has become ‘his passion’, Angelina has brazenly sold her stake to Russian businessman Yuri Shefler without his permission. Court documents filed with the Los Angeles High Court state claim that Angelina Jolie took advantage of an alleged sale without the knowledge of Brad Pitt, denying him the right to consent promised to him and the right of first refusal that her business owed him.

The Miraval estate is located in the village of Correns in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. The 35-room villa is surrounded by lush gardens with a moat, fountains, aqueducts, a pond, a chapel, and a vineyard in which Pitt says he has invested a lot of money.

Angelina Jolie, 46, and Brad Pitt, 58, bought the property in 2008 for $ 28.4 million, with the intention of raising their children there and building a family wine business. The couple got married there in 2014 and but they divorced in 2019. And while their tumultuous divorce is over, the couple is still embroiled in court battles over custody of the children and their significant assets.

Pitt developed the Miraval vineyard into a multimillion-dollar business and became one of the world’s leading wine producers. But court documents state that by 2013, ‘Jolie had completely stopped participating’ in the reconstruction, while Pitt ‘continued to invest millions of dollars’.

In January 2021, Angelina informed Brad in writing that she has made a ‘painful decision, heavy-hearted’, the lawsuit states. Jolie explained that she bought Miraval with Pitt ‘as a family business’ and as a place, she believed ‘would be their shared home for the rest of their lives’.Then, in October 2021, the Stoli Group’s wine division, Tenute del Mondo, announced that they bought Angelina’s 50 percent stake in the estate and the wine it produces. The business is since then been controlled by Russian entrepreneur Shefler.

The lawsuit adds: 'Jolie seeks to recoup her unearned unintended profits for herself while inflicting free damage on Pitt. Angelina stopped contributing to Miraval a long time ago - while Pitt invested money and capital in the wine business. Angelina Jolie is trying to grab the profit she didn't make and the return on investment she didn't make. And while Pitt's investment and work on Miraval wine development means the property is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, 'Miraval's success and associated value growth have given Jolie a chance to capitalize on Pitt's success and cash in without moving a finger to grow the company.'

A source familiar with the situation added: 'Unfortunately, this is another example of the same person not respecting his legal and ethical obligations. She thus violated the rights of the only person who invested money and capital in the success of the business, stating that she sold both the company and the family house to a third-party competitor.
