Prince Harry’s Fight for Security in the U.K
why prince harry sues UK?
"Lack of protection prevents us from coming to the United Kingdom," said Prince Harry
After deciding to leave the royal family in 2020, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and his wife Meghan Markle have lost police protection in the United Kingdom.
Prince Harry has filed a lawsuit against the Home Office for not allowing him to pay for police protection while in the UK, and the first hearing is scheduled for today.
“Lack of protection prevents us from coming to the United Kingdom,” says the Duke of Sussex.
He and the Duchess of Sussex privately finance a private security team for their family, but that security cannot provide them police protection while they are in the United Kingdom. Harry also claims that members of his insurance in the United States do not have access to information regarding insurance in the United Kingdom, which he and his family need to be safe.
Prince Harry's purpose was simple and clear: to provide for himself and his family while in the UK so that his children could learn about his motherland.
According to Harry's lawyer, the duke prefers to fund the insurance.
He wants to bring the children to the UK, but he and his family "can't go home" because it's too dangerous for them.
Harry's lawyer maintained that Britain will always be Prince Harry's home and that he wanted his wife and children to feel secure there. However, he said that the absence of police protection exposes them to too much personal risk.
The Duke first volunteered to pay for British police security for himself and his family at Sandringham in January 2020, but that offer was refused. He is still willing to fund the expense of security to avoid imposing it on British taxpayers. After another effort at negotiation was likewise refused, Harry submitted a judicial review in September 2021 to contest the decision, expecting that it would be addressed for him to receive the required protection.
Remember that Prince Harry last visited the UK last summer, when he and his brother William presented a monument of their mother Diana, who sadly died in a car accident in Paris in 1997 while being pursued by photographers.
