Charge unveils 1967 electric Ford Mustang

Charge debuted its EV Mustang more than 3 years ago, but the company has now released a production vehicle.

Charge introduced its electric Mustang more than three years ago, but it’s back on the headlines because the company has just unveiled a production model. It has been touted as a “brand new handmade icon,” with the futuristic look of the original 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback.

It uses an officially licensed contract to "preserve classic design and style," but there are several modern updates, including a fully enclosed grille surrounded by LED headlights. The model also has different door handles, unique rims, and Charge emblems on the body and interior.

Major changes are recognizable from the inside, where there are not many similarities with the classic "muscle" car. Instead, drivers will find a digital instrument panel and a portrait-oriented infotainment system.

There’s also a minimalist steering wheel, push-button gearbox, and profiled sports seats. While some details are still missing, CEO Mark Roberts said the company will encourage customers to personalize their cars themselves to “express their creativity and personality”.

The Charge has not released many details, but it is known that the car uses a 64 kWh battery that powers the all-wheel-drive system with two engines and develops a combined power of 544 hp (400 kW) and a huge 1500 Nm of torque. This allows the electric mode to capture hundreds in 3.9 seconds and a range of 322 kilometers on a single charge.

Many powertrain components come from Arrival, but it is worth noting that the model has only 50 kW DC fast charging. That is quite a bit, but fortunately, the range has increased drastically compared to the original estimate of 200 kilometers.

It is also known that production will be limited to 499 units, and the price starts from 350,000 dollars. As for the official premiere, the date remains unknown and considering that we point out that the car was originally supposed to arrive in 2019 at a price of 262,040 dollars.
