I no longer practice Scientology. Ever since I was a child I have always been open about faith. I was raised in a Catholic and Jewish family. I prayed in churches, meditated in temples, and I was also interested in traditional Chinese medicine, 'admits American actress Laura Prepon, revealing that she left the Church of Scientology five years ago.

With her husband Ben Foster, she says, she never practiced Scientology but meditation, and by voluntarily leaving the Church of Scientology she joined stars like Jerry Seinfeld, Nicole Kidman, Demi Moore, and Brad Pitt.

Wrapped in a veil of secrecy, the Church of Scientology, founded in 1953 by American science fiction author  L. Ron Hubbard, and it is one of the most controversial religions in the world today. In the decades since its founding, the church has repeatedly come under fire for its attitude toward psychiatry, high costs, alleged harassment of members, and its legitimacy as a religion in general.

Hubbard also devised ‘Project Celebrity’, a written program that offers Scientologists awards for bringing in the biggest Hollywood names, thanks to which a number of well-known names have been recruited over the years.
