Courteney Cox about film 'Scream' and marriage
Actress Courteney Cox, who stood in front of the camera with her ex-husband, did not doubt whether she should fear for her life again in the new version of the film 'Scream'
"We didn’t record something fifth, we just completely re-launched the franchise. Gale Weathers, which I play in the movies, is no longer as banal as before. I think she is also much happier because she has credibility now. She has a more serious job ", said Courteney Cox who did not doubt whether she should act in the new film 'Scream', which started to be shown in cinemas at the beginning of the year.
The journalist, who is looking for the killer, was first embodied in 1996 in the original 'Scream' directed by horror master Wes Craven. In the new film, some brand new kids are running away from the masked killer, for whom Courteney has only words of praise.
Courteney said that they are great actors and they were very excited because of making this film.No one complained about the sticky‘ blood ’used in the special effects. She thinks that they are even funnier on this set.
"I like to do nonsense and make a fool of myself. I think that over the years I have become more witty and funny because I have more self-confidence and it is easier to accept challenges, risks ", she said and noted: "It was very emotional for me to go back to 'Scream’. I felt like I was back on the ‘Friends’ set when we were filming the special. And that's where I cried, " says the American, who once again stood in front of the cameras with Arquette, whom she fell in love with on the set of the original.
The couple married in 1999 and they have a daughter, Coco, who is now 17, but the marriage fell apart in 2013. It didn’t seem to leave any bitterness as it was nice for the couple to work together again.
"It’s a cathartic experience to act with Courteney again. That is 25 years of our lives. We grew up together and are raising a child today," said the actor, who, according to his ex-wife, was very close to being kicked out of the film.
In the first‘ Scream ’they planned to kill the character of Dewey, who is played by Courteney's ex-husband, but then they saw how good he is on screen and how much the audience loves him so they gave up on the idea.
"I don't like go to the toilet in the sports arena or to the cinema. If I have to, I always check to see if anyone is there. I don't go to parking lots alone, and if I feel like having to, I keep turning and I'm on the verge of panic, " said the Alabama-born actress, who recently finished filming the new horror series 'Shining Vale', which will premiere in March.
She plays the writer Pat Phelps, who has given up alcohol, and in order to save her marriage, she moves with her husband and children to the suburbs, to an old house where only she sees ghosts.
"All things like mental problems, or menopause, or marriage, infidelity, raising teenagers - it's all in the series and I just couldn't miss the project. They call it a horror series, but I think those half-hour sequels are some of the best scenes I’ve ever shot. I’ve never worked so hard on a role. I love this task and as an actress, I have never felt so fulfilled. I was very lucky and I am very happy about it ", described Courtney.
Cox is in a relationship with 12-year-younger musician Johnny McDaid from 'Snow Patrol', who is also Ed Sheeran's best friend.
Actress said she learned how precious love is. The couple is together since 2013, and after the world was hit by a coronavirus pandemic in 2020, they spent months apart because the lockdown prevented them from traveling.
That's why she realized how important that relationship was to her and admitted that she wouldn't mind standing in front of the altar again.
