DANGEROUS VULNERABILITY AFFECTS CHROME

The detected vulnerability is serious, and attackers can use it to implement malicious code in the Chrome browser.

Recently, it was heard that a dangerous vulnerability hit Chrome and endangered users, and it is a failure that allowed hackers from North Korea to access vulnerable devices, a month before the first patch was released.

Thanks to that, the attackers managed to distribute fake websites, which had similar domains as real ones.

They stole login data and other sensitive information through them, and the vulnerability was patched in mid-February.

Recently, another danger appeared, so Google was forced to release an urgent update for Chrome browser - Chrome 99.0.4844.84 for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

The company said that employees are aware that the vulnerability of CVE-2022-1096 "exists in the wild", so an urgent update has been released, which is already reaching users, although it will take several weeks until it reaches everyone.

To check if it is available, you need to go to the Chrome menu> Help> About Google Chrome, and download it immediately if it is there. The browser itself monitors for new updates, so it downloads them as soon as possible.

The detected vulnerability is serious, and attackers can use it to implement malicious code in the Chrome browser.

Google has not released much information about the attacks, and the statement says that this is a security measure, because the public knows what the attackers know, so additional details will be announced only after the patch reaches most Chrome users.

Gmail has a new feature that reduces the number of notifications

In order for the feature to be activated, it is necessary to allow Gmail to monitor the devices on which it is used.

Notifications on smartphones are useful, because thanks to them, the user is up to date with events on all platforms he uses.

Too much information, however, is tiring, so Google has prepared an option that should reduce the noise.

The point is that Gmail users will be able to pause notifications on their phones while using the service on their computers.

The new function is still being worked on, so it will be some time before it reaches everyone.

It first appeared in February, when it reached a limited number of testers. The process seems to have sped up lately, so some users are already signing up for windows through which they can pause Gmail notifications on their phone.

In order for the feature to be activated, it is necessary to allow Gmail to monitor the devices on which it is used. There is still no option in the settings to activate the notification pause, but access to the devices can be controlled via Settings> Security and Privacy> Site Settings> Additional Permissions.

When the new feature is activated, notifications of new emails only arrive on the computer and do not appear on the phone screen.

After the computer is turned off, notifications on the mobile device are operational again. Users still can't turn it on themselves, so they have to wait for Gmail to offer them a window asking if they want a new feature.
