Elton John needs surgery, he postponed his Europe tour
Despite the pain, he will be singing at the Global Citizen charity event on September 25th. ‘I’m only going to sing five songs, it’s not the same as playing every night on tour and still traveling at night from country to country,’ he says.
Elton John (74) had an accident and postponed the 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road' tour, which was supposed to tour Europe.
- At the end of the summer vacation, I fell awkwardly on a hard surface and since then I have been feeling a lot of pain and discomfort in my hip. Regardless of physical therapy and specialist treatment, the pain worsened and led to greater difficulties in movement - John explained on social media.
He added that he was advised to go for surgery as soon as possible in order to get back in shape and not to have long-term complications.
- I will go to an intensive physiotherapy program that will ensure my complete recovery and return to full mobility without pain - he says. Despite the pain, he will be singing at the ‘Global Citizen’ charity event on September 25th because she doesn’t want to let down the charity.
- Considering that I only have five songs, it is a very different physical endeavor than playing almost three hours every night on tour and taking night trips from country to country - says the musician. The European tour should be in 2023.
- I know how patient my fans have been since the tour was stopped last year because of the covid 19 and my heart breaks that you still have to wait. I fully understand your frustrations after the year we had - he concluded.
