Geforce RTX 30, Radeon RX 6000: Prices
The expensive graphics card prices for Nvidia's Geforce RTX 30 and AMD's RX 6000 series have lately begun to fall, but the end of the road may be approaching.
According to a recent poll by 3dcenter.org, street costs for graphics cards have continued to rise over the previous three weeks compared to mid-February, with price drops in certain cases exceeding Nvidia's high-end range of 110 dollars for GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and Co. Meanwhile, there wasn't quite as much change at AMD.
Nonetheless, AMD's "price exaggerations" over the RRP are now only 35% and Nvidia's are 41%, with the determination based on the best pricing of each graphics card.
Even if things continue to improve, the research warns that it is still unable to make a purchase recommendation due to consistently inflated prices.
Is the end of falling prices coming?
If the current price development continues, the real list price level may, in purely arithmetic terms, be achieved again in around three months, which experience has shown is not always likely. In the meanwhile, solid availability would speak for itself, although the downward price trend had already slowed recently and remained unchanged from the previous week.
Furthermore, according to 3dcenter.org, there are currently short-term currency effects, such as a recent minus 4%, in which the euro is now worthless against the dollar, which could stymie the downward trend in graphics card pricing in this country.
"If the dollar/euro exchange rate continues to collapse, this indicates that the graphics card market in Euroland is currently facing very bleak prospects of (further) declining euro prices. It is probable that graphics card prices will rise. The dollar will continue to fall in value, but this will have little effect on European graphics card buyers due to other currency effects […] Unfortunately, it appears that further graphics card price cuts will only be felt in the dollar area for the time being." - www.3dcenter.org
