Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

Plot Summary

The movie begins on Earth in 1988, where a young Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) is abducted by a group of space pirates called the Ravagers. Fast forward 26 years, and Quill is now a self-proclaimed "Star-Lord" and a thief, who steals a mysterious orb from a planet called Morag. The orb is sought after by several powerful individuals, including Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace), who plans to use it to destroy the planet Xandar.

Quill is pursued by Ronan and his henchmen, but he eventually teams up with a group of misfits, including Gamora (Zoe Saldana), a trained assassin who is the adopted daughter of Thanos (Josh Brolin); Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), a vengeful warrior seeking revenge against Ronan; Rocket (Bradley Cooper), a genetically modified raccoon; and Groot (Vin Diesel), a sentient tree-like creature.
