Harrison Ford is one of the highest-paid and most popular actors in Hollywood, and during his enviable career, he has received numerous awards for his roles. He gained worldwide fame thanks to the role of Han Solo in the series "Star Wars", and he replayed that role in four sequels over a period of more than 42 years. The famous actor is celebrating his 79th birthday these days.

He embodied Indiana Jones, appeared in numerous action movies, but also romantic dramas. He played a role in the big hit “Air Force One,” which grossed $ 315 million and was originally supposed to star Kevin Costner. His name is usually mentioned in movies as Harrison J. Ford not to be confused with his namesake who became famous in silent films.

As for the roles, he has specific criteria. For example, he refused to star in the hits "Jurassic Park" and "Patriot" because of his commitment to fighting to save the environment and animals, the ant species was named Ford after him. The actor doesn’t care about the technical details, so he reportedly filmed the entire Star Wars franchise without any contract.

Before he started acting, he worked as a carpenter for a while, and even today he says that it is his favorite hobby. How skilled he is, is also shown by his ranch house in the small town of Jackson Hole. He built that house himself, and while he's not in Los Angeles, that's where he spends time with his wife, Calista Flockhart.

Although he has recorded numerous hits, Ford has only been nominated for the prestigious Oscar once, back in 1986 for the film "Witness". Ford is known to the public for his strong adherence to privacy, and he only appears on the red carpet when he has to due to commitments to a new film or his wife Calista.

Before settling with Calista, he was married twice. From his first wife, cook Mary Marquardt, he divorced after 15 years and they have sons Willard (52) and Ben (53). Harrison was then again married from 1983 to 2004 to television screenwriter Melissa Mathison. The former spouses have a daughter Georgia (31) and a son Malcolm (33) and both are involved in acting.

Ford’s current wife Calista adopted son Liam, 19, when he was a baby and was later adopted by Harrison. The couple has been married since 2010, and the relationship began in 2002 after they met at the Golden Globe Awards. Although many evil tongues have claimed that their love will fail, the famous couple still proves today that love does not care for age.
