How Robert Pattinson got in shape for Batman

A new Batman with Robert Pattinson in the lead role has hit theaters. This is a role that many "Batmans" have been preparing for months, just look at the body of Christian Bale or Ben Affleck. Unfortunately, Pattinson doesn’t use social media so we couldn’t follow his fitness journey, but reporters revealed how he came to form for the role of superhero.

Exercise in the morning

The British actor exercised in the morning before filming. “I had the most energy in the morning. I would do the training, and after that, I would have 15 minutes before entering the Batman suit” - said Robert in a recent interview.

In fact, morning workouts have great effects on us. Healthline has found studies that state that morning exercise can make us more active during the rest of the day. In addition, it helps us not to delay sleep as evening exercises can sometimes do.

Perseverance is key

Before the pandemic stopped filming, Robert injured his hand which further slowed filming. “I broke my wrist at the beginning of the shoot doing acrobatics, even before the covid. But I continued to practice, even tho I looked like a penguin” - he said.

Of course, you don’t need to exercise if you’re injured, we need to emphasize that. But we want to highlight Robert’s perseverance, even in a very awkward situation. If you also want to get in shape, do not give up and exercise regularly.

Balance is important

Are you among those who exercise at one point, eat healthy and get enough sleep, but if one factor fails, for example, you eat poorly, you stop everything? In fact, Pattinson worked that way until recently.

I have been functioning on the principle of "all or nothing" for too long. Until I realized that I needed an easier approach to fitness because I often knew how to go from one extreme to another, at least that was the case in the past” - he pointed out.

In order to stop such patterns of behavior, the actor had to change his mental attitude. And it seems to us that he succeeded very well in that.

He focused on core exercises

While advice on mental attitude, balance, and perseverance is important, you need to practice at the end (or beginning) of the day. The British actor did core exercises. Basic training consisted of exercises such as:

  • Bike sit-ups - Lie on your back, put your arms above your head and stretch your legs along with your body. Tighten your abdominal muscles and touch your left knee with your right elbow. At the same time, stretch your right leg in front of you so that it is raised a few inches off the floor, then replace it so that your left leg is stretched and your right leg is bent, and you touch it with your left elbow. It's like riding a bike.
  • Double sit-ups - Lie on your back with your legs outstretched. Put your hands behind your head and intertwine your fingers. The elbows are spread. Bend your knees slightly and lift your feet about 15 centimeters off the floor, while your head is in a neutral position. Raise the torso and your legs at the same time. The quadriceps and torso should be close together.
  • Superman - Lie on your stomach, arms straight above your head and legs outstretched. Activate several muscle groups by lifting your arms and legs a few inches off the floor at the same time. Hold the pose for a few seconds, then return to the starting position.

Robert usually did three sets of 25 reps. We are impressed!
