But the honor of being the last guest of one of the most famous talk show hosts went to Aniston, who 19 years ago first sat in an armchair across from Ellen.
Ellen pointed out how since the show was launched a lot of things have changed. In 2003, iPhone didn’t exist, gay marriages were not legal. During the show, we could see the world change, sometimes for the better, sometimes not, but we always enjoyed that one hour of laughter. She thanked everyone and said how it was a privilege to be a part of our lives for so long. The last episode of the show will be shown on May 26th.
Back in May last year, Ellen announced that she would finish recording a talk show. She said that as much as she enjoyed it, it was no longer a challenge for her. The news of the end of filming came just months after former employees went public with stories that the show’s set was a “toxic place to work”.
After that, three producers lost their jobs, and DeGeneres opened the current season with an apology on the air. The show has been airing since 2003 and is one of the most popular talk shows in the United States and one of the most famous in the world.
Ellen also said that she wanted to finish the show after season 16, but the producers wanted to continue with it for four more years. She agreed to one more year, but after negotiations, they’ve decided to film for 3 more years. “I knew it was going to be my last season," Ellen said.
