Marvel hired the first transgender actor!
She will appear in the new superheroine series!
Australian actor Zoe Terakes will have one of the major roles in the upcoming Marvel series on the Disney+ streaming service. It's the "Ironheart" series, and Terakes will be the first transgender and non-binary actor Marvel has ever hired.
Terakes is very grateful to be able to act in the Marvel series and to have an important role, and the 22-year-old actor commented on everything for Collider. "As a trans person, growing up, I couldn't imagine myself anywhere. I wasn't aware of my existence. Acting in a Marvel movie didn't even cross my mind," said Terakes.
"I'm very grateful and touched that young trans kids and trans teenagers will be able to see that they exist in real life too. We don't always have to be part of some sad and traumatic story, we can be there with the big boys. So, yes, this role means a lot to me," he said.
Terakes will have one of the more important supporting roles, that is, he will be side by side with the main actress Dominique Throne, who plays Riri Williams, better known as Ironheart. It is about a young scientist who invents the strongest super suit in the world. Throne previously appeared in this role in Wakanda Forever as a 19-year-old MIT student.
