Musk: Messages Should Use End-To-End Encryption

Many have criticized Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter, while others have supported it. And it is believed, in addition to his bizarre comments, Musk is using the growing popularity of his posts to probe the social network's general public with some probable features that may be introduced to the platform.

As a result, in addition to the already existing function of editing tweets, and in addition to other maneuvers to deal with some users' accusations, such as the proposal to release Twitter's algorithms to an open-source model, one of the most recent Billionaire's messages suggests that end-to-end encryption (also known as E2EE) should be implemented to protect the privacy of direct messages within the platform.

And it is currently true that any direct message made between Twitter users can be viewed by both the sender and the recipient, as well as any Twitter administrator with the necessary degree of system access.

As a result, the new encryption mechanism would ensure that the communications remained exclusively tied to the two parties involved in this conversation, denying the social network access to any private content.

Ciphertext can be decrypted only if both the sender and the recipient have the necessary cryptographic keys to decrypt the original message. This encryption seeks to protect the data's confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

While online privacy advocates applaud E2EE and the safeguards it provides, there will always be critics. Other parties engaged, such as governments or other organizations, believe that E2EE goes too far, pointing out that it can aid in the concealment of illicit actions and the protection of individuals who participate in them.
