The second season of the popular Netflix series "Wednesday" is facing production difficulties after the loss of one of the main cast members in the middle of filming. The Netflix series, in which Jenna Ortega plays the title role of Wednesday Adams, was quickly renewed for a season after becoming one of the most successful titles on the streaming platform.
Production on the second season is currently on hold due to ongoing strikes in Hollywood, but the show suffered an additional blow after news that Tora Birch, who joined as a new series member, had to drop out before finishing her scenes. A representative of MGM, which produces the series, stated that Tora returned to the United States due to personal problems and she will no longer participate in this project.
According to sources, she had to return home to take care of a sick family member. It is also assumed that although she did not finish her scenes, she "finished most of the role".
What will happen now?
In the second season, she was assigned the role of Tamara Novak, the new roommate of the main protagonist. However, it is currently unclear whether the scenes with Thora Birch will actually be included in the series, as her character could be reassigned to someone else. In any case, there is also mention of the possibility that the producers will have to add a new character to complete her plot.
In addition to the main role in the filming of the series, Ortega has another role. Namely, he is one of the producers of this project, and while talking about it, she revealed that the second season will bring a horror story.
"Precisely because it's so fun, this kind of series with vampires, werewolves and superpowers allows us not to take ourselves too seriously," she said in an interview
In addition to Ortega, from the first season the parents of Wednesday, who in this project embodied Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Adams, while Luis Guzmán plays Gomez Adams, are also appearing.
