Nothing Phone (1) could debut in July
If we tell you that the developer of the Nothing Phone (1) project is Carl Pei, you are likely to continue as you were, because he is not as well-known in the media as other names that are considerably more common in the conversation about technology.
However, things will change dramatically if we tell you that he was one of the founders of OnePlus, a brand that revolutionized the market with its first terminals and that even today continues to offer excellent devices, albeit at prices that are significantly higher than those of the brand's first devices.
Aware of this and disappointed as a result, Pei chose to leave OnePlus and, as is typical of this type of person, to establish a new project, with which he declares that he will once again revolutionize the smartphone market.
To that aim, he's been providing details about the Nothing Phone (1) for quite some time.
The second gadget from the firm, Nothing, the first being the Nothing Ear headphones (1), which we were able to test at the end of last year and left us with a really good taste in our mouths.
If we consider these headphones to be a business card for the future Nothing Phone (1), there is no doubt that we can have promising possibilities in this regard, and Pei's resume adds a point in this regard.
Now, his approach is ambitious enough for us to be wary because his remarks indicate that he is shooting for the top, and leaks indicate that he is expecting a low price. And integrating the two appears to be extremely difficult. Even more so when we consider that the idea includes both hardware and software.
And it is that Nothing Phone (1) will have its own operating system, NothingOS (which we can actually imagine will be Android with a layer of customization on top).
It doesn't seem plausible that it would have chosen AOSP as a base instead, avoiding Google services, but even in these terms, we're talking about a good extra effort for a still very young and, we can suppose, not really large company.
In terms of the gadget itself, Pei claims that Nothing (1) will change the Android smartphone market, with the goal of providing an answer from the Android ecosystem to the all-powerful iPhone.
Regardless, tremendous expectations have already been formed in the Android community, which expects that the Nothing Phone (1) will be as revolutionary as the OnePlus was at the time.
And the good news is that, according to Gizchina, we may not have to wait long to see it, as it might be shown next July, or at most in two months.
If that is the case, we can expect rumors and new leaks in the coming weeks, though it is true that the company has been able to maintain a lot of secrecy regarding the Nothing Phone (1) until now, so we should not be surprised if we reach that point without knowing practically anything about the smartphone.
