The "Lord of the Rings" movie star, Orlando Bloom (44), shared on Instagram a photo of himself wearing a back prosthesis and told a gruesome story about how he narrowly escaped death and permanent paralysis.

"That’s me in my back brace circa 1998 about 3months after I fell 3floors and crushed my spine, narrowly escaping death and paralysis…grateful every day for my limbs that allow me to push my limits and live life on my edge (safer now)" wrote Orlando, father of two children.

The terrible accident happened when then 22-year-old Orlando went climbing with friends on the roof terrace and fell from the third floor after the drainpipe on which he was leaning broke.

The fiancée of the Hollywood star, singer Katy Perry, showed support for her future husband by writing "I love you" in the comment section of the post. In addition, Orlando's ex-wife Miranda Kerr added "I'm so proud of you", with a heart at the end of her comment.

By the way, Orlando had previously talked about the accident that happened to him.

"Until then, I thought I was invincible, but after the fall, I was completely destroyed both physically and mentally. For days I faced the possibility of staying in the wheelchair forever. That changed me in every sense. Now I look at life with completely different eyes."
