Cillian Murphy will play Oppenheimer, an American physicist whose role in running the lab in Los Alamos and participating in the Manhattan Project led him to be dubbed the “father of the atomic bomb”.
The film follows “the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it,” per an announcement.
Nolan will reportedly make the movie in cooperation with Universal studio. The studio also set a US theatrical release date of July 21, 2023. The summer month has long been a Nolan release tradition.
