Former model Petra Nemcova attracts attention wherever she appears, which is not unusual because she really rarely appeared at public events in recent years. So all eyes were on her when she arrived at the Cannes Film Festival.
Petra was one of the most famous models in the world before she decided to withdraw from the public eye and dedicate herself to her family. However, her appearance on the red carpet showed that she did not forget about glamor, and she did not lose her model line.
42-year-old Petra arrived on the red carpet in an eccentric, but still moderate and modern edition. She wore an oversized white shirt with a barge trailing behind her as she walked, and she also wore a black hooded coat that she soon took off. When it comes to jewelry and makeup, Petra opted for a minimalist approach and wore only sapphire earrings and gathered her hair into a simple ponytail.
Today, Petra enjoys happiness with businessman Benjamin Larretche, whom she married in 2019 and with whom she has a son, but she left behind a difficult story and a great loss. Namely, in 2004, Petra and her then-fiancé Simon Atlee were hit by a tsunami during a visit to Thailand. On their way back to the hotel, they were hit by a huge wave that swept away the resort where they were staying and separated the couple.
That was the last time she saw her fiancé and his body was found weeks after the devastating tsunami, along with 280,000 other victims. The photographer was killed at the age of 33, and the model was lucky and saved herself because she clung to a palm tree.
Later, after she spent eight hours in the water, a Thai man saw her and called an ambulance and the Czech woman was taken to hospital. Doctors found she had pelvic fractures and internal bleeding in her abdomen and uterus. Understandably, she was also in a very bad mental state because her fiancé was killed, and she watched for hours as corpses floated in the water around her.
