In a recent interview, the actor Darren Day opened up about his personal struggles after he "relapsed" during quarantine in May 2020 and started consuming cocaine again. He only did that for a week.

However, it was not the first time that the West End star turned to drugs because he had struggled with another problem of substance abuse in the past.

"I was crazy from 2001 to 2005. And crack makes you an addict in an instant. I smoked it, not sniffed. It's intense. Thank God, I never ended up on heroin, but without a doubt, crack cocaine was the worst time for me. It is so addicting that when you do it so much, the money simply disappears", he said.

Last year, when the covid crisis started, Day faced his demons again when he did not earn income between February and May. He also had only four days to the beginning of the rehearsals in "Footloose" when the theaters closed, which took away another source of income.

"I was so stressed" - Darren recalled and said that his mental health went downhill when he ingested 30 grams of cocaine in a week.

Darren realized he needed help and turned to his close friend Robbie Williams. According to Day, Williams "was not disappointed" that his friend returned to narcotics.

"He was never disappointed. He is simply amazing "- said Day and added that Robbie even paid for his rehabilitation institution.

I suppose it is because he sees a lot of me in him — and I see a lot of him in me.

“I don’t mean to sound too dramatic but I love Robbie like a brother and he has been the most incredible support" Day added.
