Ryan Murphy decided to dedicate the third season of the series Impeachment: American Crime Story to the scandal that followed Monica Lewinsky over Bill Clinton, but he didn’t want to do it without her statements. He gave her a chance to answer all the questions that had arisen in the past, but filming the series reminded Monica of the old traumas she had endured because of the affair.

On the eve of filming the series, Monica hired a psychotherapist specializing in trauma to go through the whole process with her. Monica was the co-producer of the third season of the ten-episode series, which was a big challenge for her.

I’m nervous because people will see some of the worst moments of my life and the behavior I regret,” Monica said recently in an interview with NBC’s Today show.

Recall, Linda Tripp in the late nineties recorded telephone conversations between Bill Clinton and young intern Monica Lewinsky. She handed the footage over to prosecutor Kenneth Starr, who led the investigation into the Clinton administration. Thus, the affair between the married president and the then 22-year-old girl was revealed to the whole world. Many then started condemning, insulting, but also threatening Monica, who had to hide from the public for a while.

Lewinsky did not want to be the center of media attention at the time. Linda Tripp introduced herself as Monica's friend but secretly recorded their 22-hour long conversation. The front pages of numerous newspapers have been devoted to their affair for months. Many times Monica said she regretted her actions, while Bill Clinton said his affair with her was a short-lived pastime and he continued his marriage to Hillary as if nothing had happened.

In the series, Beanie Feldstein plays Monica Lewinsky, Sarah Paulson plays Linda Tripp, while Clive Owen plays Bill Clinton.
