Robin Williams did a great thing for Ethan Hawke, and he thought he hated him

"I thought Robin hated me. He used to make a lot of jokes on the set. At 18, it irritated me incredibly. He would not stop and I would not laugh at anything he would do" said Ethan Hawke, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Despite the fear of a conflict with the legendary star, who passed away in 2014, Ethan revealed that it helped him sign a contract with his first agent.

"My agent called saying: "Robin Williams says you will be really good ..." Hawk recalled and added:

"There was this scene in the movie when he makes me spontaneously think of a song in front of the class. He eventually made this joke, saying he found me scary. I thought it was a joke" said Ethan, and stated that he finally understood what Robin meant then:

"As I get older, I realize that there is something frightening in the seriousness of young people, their intensity,” Hawk said.

A few years ago, Ethan Hawke, as a guest on the show hosted by Graham Norton, spoke about his collaboration with Robin Williams in the film "Dead Poets Society".

"He was incredibly witty, he was very relaxed, very inventive, he played a teacher and he constantly improvised," said Ethan and added that Robin Williams made the film crew laugh all day:
"I wanted to be a serious actor. I read Stanislavski, I tried hard and I really wanted to get into the character and I didn't want to laugh. The more I tried not to laugh, the crazier he(Robin Williams) was" said Hawk, who stated that he was "smoking" with rage at the time.

"He didn't realize I wanted to do a good job. I wanted to be Montgomery Clift (famous American actor, 1920-1966), and he wanted to be Zero Mostel (American comedian, 1915-1977) or something, and I thought he hated me and constantly sabotaged me,"  said Ethan and added:
"When the filming was over, I had to go back to school and I got a call from a great Hollywood agent, who said, "I'm Robin Williams' agent. He (Robin Williams) said you were going to be something. And he became my first agent," ”Ethan Hawke once said.
