Samsung Galaxy S23 - Review

The day has finally arrived. After months of anticipation and leaks, Samsung has officially unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S23, the latest generation of its top-of-the-line smartphones, with which the Korean technology firm remains, for many, the major standard for high-end Android and, as a result, the main challenger of Apple's iPhone.

This is a conflict in which, without a doubt, the users win, or, more precisely, the users who are willing to pay a significant financial outlay to obtain a top-of-the-line product. The most ardent supporters of both brands would argue that "theirs" is far superior to "the other," but beyond these extreme opinions, the truth is that both technical businesses strive to deliver their best with each generation.

The main battlefield appears to have been located in the functions of photography and video recording in these times, to the point where nearly half of Unpacked 2023, which lasted an hour, was dedicated to glossing the virtues of Samsung Galaxy S23 in this regard, while the enumeration of some of the mobiles' technical specifications was resolved in a matter of seconds. Certainly an issue of priorities.

Regardless, the new generation has arrived, so let us see what they have to offer.

Let's start with the S23 and S23+ :

The two most noticeable differences are the size of their screens, which are 6.1 and 6.6 inches but have equal resolutions and functionality, and the capacity of their batteries. And, of course, its dimensions, as well as, yeah, one less storage capacity option. We'll see those possibilities now.

The 6.1 and 6.6-inch screens are both made of a 2X Dynamic AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution (2,340 × 1,080 pixels with a 21:9 aspect ratio) and a dynamic refresh rate that may range from 48 to 120 hertz. Furthermore, as we previously stated, they are covered by the new generation of Corning protectors, Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

This latest generation is powered by a special variation of Qualcomm's top-of-the-line SoC, named Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, as we previously reported. The differences from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 that rules other devices have yet to be observed, but both Samsung and Qualcomm have acknowledged that "there are." Both variants have 8 gigabytes of RAM and 128 or 256 gigabytes in the Samsung Galaxy S23, which increases to 256 or 512 gigabytes in the S23+.

In terms of connectivity, it is neither more nor less than what can be expected from a top-of-the-line device, that is, the most recent generation in every way. Thus, if we get any of these, we will have 5G, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, location, and UWB (Ultra WideBand) in the Galaxy S23+. A USB-C connector is used for charging, data transfer, and headphone connection.

In the picture part, we found no distinction between the two models. Its main camera consists of three elements: a 50-megapixel f/1.8 wide angle (FOV 85), a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle (FOV 120) with an f/2.2 number, and a 3x zoom telephoto lens (FOV 36 ) with an f/2.4 number. The front, which is visible through a perforation in the upper center of the screen, has an angle (FOV 80 ) of 12 megapixels and an aperture of f / 2.2.

As previously stated, the other significant difference between the two gadgets is seen in their batteries. The Samsung Galaxy S23 has a 3,900 milliampere fast charging capability with a 25-watt output. The S23+, for its part, can reach 4,700 milliamps and, in this instance, Samsung recommends the 45-watt fast charger.
