Samsung has demonstrated a new 200-megapixel Isocell HP1 camera sensor
Samsung has decided to show the world the capabilities of its new 200-megapixel Isocell HP1 smartphone camera sensor.
The 200-megapixel Isocell HP1 sensor, which is not yet available in phones (but may be soon), was put on a printed circuit board and photographed the cat, which was then reproduced on a billboard 1.5 times the size of a basketball court.
The 28 by 22-meter canvas print, printed in 12 strips, is now on display in a building in Seoul, where visitors may marvel at Samsung's photography and printing technologies.
It's difficult to say how much the Isocell HP1 sensor technology contributed to the quality of the billboards because you won't be able to see all of the fine and high-resolution details up close.
In fact, at 300 dots per inch, the normal resolution for most photo prints, a massive photo captured by Isocell HP1 of 16,384 x 12,288 pixels would be 139 × 104 cm if a pixel dot was printed, yet this giant poster is 20 times larger, as shown in the video below.
If you want to acquire a phone with a 200 MP Isocell HP1 camera sensor, you should know that you will need a powerful processor, a larger buffer, more RAM, and, of course, more storage space. It is obvious that any future Samsung flagship phone with this sensor would be a true beast.
Although we know that the number of megapixels does not always correlate with photo quality, telling someone you have a 200-megapixel camera on your phone would undoubtedly get a lot of attention, just like a huge cat did to passers-by in Seoul.
