Sarah Michelle Gellar has explained why she gave up

Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar has discussed why she stopped acting and what prompted her to return to the profession.

She is most known for her role as Buffy Summers in the cult series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which she played from 1996 to 2003, and she has not acted in any Hollywood productions in recent years.

Since being discovered by a talent scout at the age of four, the mother-of-two has worked nearly non-stop, starring in some of the biggest blockbusters of the 2000s, including Cruel Intentions and I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Gellar stated she felt "burned out" after the termination of her short-lived sitcom The Crazy Ones, after having two children with her husband Freddie Prinze Jr.

The death of Robin Williams made her reconsider everything

The actress also co-starred with the late Robin Williams, who committed suicide three months after the show was terminated. The loss of her father on the show in August 2014 compelled Gellar to reconsider her career and family balance in the future.

"I'm extremely burned out," the actress, who decided to stay at home and raise her two children, Charlotte Grace, and Rocky James, told The Independent.

"At first I didn't know if I missed acting. But then, during quarantine, that's when I got the itch. That's when I really got hooked," said Gellar, who was offered the chance to star in and executive produce the upcoming supernatural teen drama Wolf Pack on the Paramount+ platform.

The former teen star plays Kristin Ramsay, a fire investigator who must investigate a weird beast that assaulted teenagers at a summer camp. The series is based on the novel series by Ed Van Belkom and follows Everett and Blake, whose lives are permanently transformed when a fire in California unleashes a ghostly entity.

He used to star in a popular series and was a big star: Do you recognize him today?

James Marsters (60) was a major Hollywood star once. He was at his peak when he starred in Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the late 1990s, but you wouldn't recognize him today.

Marsters was a favorite among ladies when he played the beautiful vampire Spike in the aforementioned series, but even the most ardent fans of the series would struggle to recognize him today.

James attended the Wolf Pack premiere with Sarah Michelle Gellar, with whom he also filmed Buffy. Spike and Buffy were lovers on the show, and the stars reunited for the premiere of the new Paramount series, in which Gellar plays a key part.

Marsters is most known for his roles in the television shows Runaways, Hawaii Five-0, Torchwood, and The Devil You Know, and he also contributes voices in animated films. His most recent prominent job was as Victor Stein, the father of one of the main protagonists, Chase Stein, in Marvel's Runaways (2019).
