Scene from the "Tom and Jerry" cartoon made people cry?

The cult cartoon "Tom and Jerry" marked the childhood of many during its seventy years of broadcasting, and now the episode from 1949, which made fans cry because of one harrowing scene, is being broadcast again.

In the episode "Heavenly Puss", Tom temporarily visits the gates of heaven after being injured during a fight with Jerry the mouse. A golden escalator leads him to a door where cats line up to board the train – the Heavenly Express. In front of the train conductor, the cat who lets them on the train, a wet sack appears, jumping, tied on top with a string. Three cats Fluff, Puff, and Muff then emerge from it, shaking the water off themselves, implying that someone drowned them on purpose.

Looking at the kittens, the conductor says with displeasure "What else people won't do" and lets the kittens onto the train.

"We were too young to understand this," he wrote alongside the video, which saddened many, and many fans wrote that they only now noticed the weight of that scene.

"I remember this episode. I was a kid and I didn't understand anything. Wow", "It's so painful to know that so many cute animals never get a chance to live" and "I don't think that would make sense to me as a child. Now that I'm watching it again, I feel sad", are just some of the comments.

Recall, that Tom and Jerry were created in a moment of desperation. MGM's animation department, staffed by creators Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera, struggled to replicate the success of other studios that had hit characters like Piglet and Mickey Mouse.
