Sony sold more than 13 million PS5 consoles worldwide
Sales of Sony's latest consoles are still going very well and achieving a significant quarterly increase.
Sony can still rub its hands with satisfaction over the successful sale of PS5 consoles. The company sold 3.3 million units in the second fiscal quarter or about a million units more than the previous quarter. The PS5 sales thus reached 13.4 million units and increased the quarterly sales of games for console PS5 with 63.6 million units to 76.4 million.
As PS5 sales grow, sales of PS4 consoles are declining, dropping from half a million units from last quarter to 200,000 units. In fact, we are even more surprised why people buy PS4 at all because we do not see that the price of the console has dropped something particularly dramatic.

By the way, when it comes to comparisons between PS4 and PS5 sales, Sony’s CFO Hiroki Totoki told investors that PS5 sales in the first year of sales will exceed 14.8 million units as many PS4 consoles were sold in the first year after launch.
As for the recent problems with component suppliers, which once caused shortages in the PS5 market, Sony says that it now has enough components to stack 22.6 million units, ie that the components won't be a problem at least until March 2022. However, the upcoming holidays will certainly further increase the sales, for example during the Black Friday, Christmas, and New Year holidays.
