Taylor Swift is on trial for plagiarism!

Taylor Swift was trending recently when she relaunched one of her best albums, according to her fans, Red. Many around the world also cried because of her song " All too well" and now, the American has once again captured the attention.
Since its release, Swift’s 10-minute version of ‘All Too Well‘ has earned the title of the longest entry at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 to date, beating the record set by Don’s McLean’s ‘American Pie’ 50 years ago. The singer’s 2020 album ‘Evermore‘ was also nominated for Album of the Year at this month’s 2022 Grammys.
However, the singer-songwriter will go to trial because she is accused of violating the copyright for one of her hits: "Shake it off."
She tried to dismiss the case, but a California judge rejected this request and determined that only a jury could know if the hit is a copy of the song “Playas gon 'play” (2001), by the dissolved girl group 3LW.
There are some similarities that fans of both groups couldn't pass up. Yes, the rhythms are different, but the lyrics coincide a lot in phrases like: “ players gonna play” and “haters gonna hate”.
Before all of this, California Central District Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald, dismissed the case because he said the lyrics are too "banal" to be copyrighted. He even cited songs that had similar phrases between them and argued that in the early 2000s, popular culture was full of "gamers and haters."
According to the BBC, Sean Hall and Nathan Butler appealed the sentence and then a federal court reversed the decision and returned the case to Judge Fitzgerald.
Taylor tried to request a summary judgment, then to obtain a ruling in his favor, but now the judge refused everything, considering that although there are great differences, it may be that there are also significant similarities.
