Teardown Game: All you need is a hammer

The Teardown has been in Early Access on Steam since the end of 2020, but the Tuxedo Labs studio's founders only recently completed version 1.0. The game's main selling point is its totally destructible world, although it also includes a campaign.

Teardown features a voxel world with a range of environments just waiting to be decimated in the most creative way imaginable. However, the game is more than just a technical showcase with many maps awaiting players and their imaginative destruction ideas.

We were given robbery-related chores in a campaign with a "mushroom" in the form of our house. The time constraints, as well as the diversity of tools available and duties specified, were a difficulty.

We may still anticipate an infinite number of hammer strokes. However, this has limitations when it comes to more durable materials. We progressed to burners, weapons, bombs, and even a rocket launcher.

In the advanced stage, you can already anticipate the need to extinguish the fire so that the alarm does not sound. Later on, you will almost definitely be surprised by an armed helicopter or other security guards, such as murder robots. You can also expect a natural tornado.

We also had a lot of fun in the other modes. However, in the case of problems, we had to cope with circumstances where we only had a limited set of tools to execute the duties. The sandbox, which is more or less devoid of regulations, is where we received totally updated equipment and unrestricted area for our creativity.

With each mission completed, our home has grown and taken on new forms. Our success was clearly obvious on it. However, this is not a location where we will encounter other characters that are likely to engage with one another.

The campaign appears to be rather sterile. E-mails are the only way to communicate with the game characters.

There is also a lack of multiplayer, which could be used to replace or supplement the regular campaign in the form of cooperative play. However, we recognize the technical constraints as well as the fact that it is an independent studio with limited resources.

We were immediately reminded of how the not-so-successful, as well as destructive-focused, Crackdown 3 attempted to integrate multiplayer options through the cloud.

The Modder community, which is affiliated with the Steam Workshop platform, has certainly brought value to the game. We tested the International Space Station's destructive potential, among other things (ISS).

You can select from over 2,400 different alterations or additions. Some are also attempting to provide a more realistic physics model that takes material weight into account.

Teardown may not have realistic graphics, but its high-quality visual processing won us over. We played the game with the graphics turned up to 11.

At the same time, ray tracing is an integral feature of Teardown's core voxel rendering and cannot be disabled. As a result, you may expect a spectacular light show. Larger explosions, on the other hand, resulted in severe image decreases.

The Teardown is a game that expands on her world's limitless destruction. The Tuxedo Labs studio also offers a campaign, but you may have a lot of fun in sandbox mode with no limits. The same can be said for the different changes that are freely accessible via Steam Workshop.

Nonetheless, the game lacked life and dynamism, which could have been provided by other players or, at the very least, artificial intelligence-controlled characters.

The physical model could also be improved. We were already able to see in the first mission how the entire roof of the structure rested on a single brick in its existing state.

The Teardown is a computer game that was released exclusively on Steam for $19.99.
