"The Call of Cthulhu" Being Adapted Into Movie By James Wan!

If you are a fan of director James Wan or author HP Lovecraft then we have good news for you. It seems that it has been officially confirmed that James Wan is working on a film based on one of Lovecraft's most famous stories - The Call of Cthulhu.

While promoting "Aquaman" and the "Lost Kingdom", Wan told for "Call of Cthulhu" that it was a "dream project" and he admitted that he had been quietly working on it for five years.

The short story was initially published in 1928 in the magazine Weird Tales. Lovecraft's original story consists of three interconnected parts, in which Francis Wayland Thurston uncovers the connection between his late uncle and a mysterious cult. The story marks the first appearance of the iconic entity, which would later be frequently referenced in Lovecraft's works, as well as in the works of other famous authors, including Robert Bloch and Stephen King.

Also, a few days ago foreign media announced that Wan's film "The Call of Cthulhu" will be turned into a video game. But neither James Wan's film nor its video game adaptation is the first time that Lovecraft's "Call of Cthulhu" has been adapted for other media. Lovecraft is often brought to the screen, from the 1960s classics "The Haunted Palace" and "Die, Monster, Die!" through the 1980s films "Re-Animator" and "From Beyond", all the way to recent achievements "Color Out of Space" (2019) and "Suitable Flesh" (2023).

Namely, this story was adapted through various comic books during the 1960s, followed by other interpretations including board games. The most famous adaptation is probably the video game from 2018 – "Call of Cthulhu". It is an upgrade to the 1981 RPG, which was available on various platforms including Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
