The first official trailer for documentary series about John Lennon is out!

Yesterday, Apple presented the first official trailer for its new documentary series about the death of the legendary John Lennon .

The three-part series "John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial" investigates the circumstances and consequences of the assassination of the famous member of the cult group The Beatles. The series features exclusive interviews with witnesses and never-before-seen photos from the crime scene, shedding new light on the life and murder of the musical and cultural legend, as well as on the investigation and conviction of his killer, Mark David Chapman

Apple described the series as "the most thorough investigation about the murder of John Lennon." Lennon was shot in front of his building in New York on December 8, 1980.

What happened?

Lennon died on Monday, December 8, 1980, after being shot on the doorstep of his New York home by Mark David Chapman, a deranged fan. Chapman was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison when he confessed to the crime and is being held at the Green Haven Correctional Facility in New York.

The production has approval from the New York Police Department, the Parole Board, and the district attorney's office.

Apple's series is thus far the most extensive and detailed documentary about Lennon and his murder, which shocked and saddened the world on December 8, 1980. The production was approved by the state prosecutor's office, which is why the series brings unprecedented material, and for the first time, some of Lennon's closest friends will speak for the public. There will also be interviews with Chapman's attorney, psychiatrists, detectives and prosecutors.

The documentary series was directed by Nick Holt and Rob Coldstream, and the narrator is Emmy-nominated Kiefer Sutherland.

"John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial" arrives on Apple TV+ on December 6, 43 years after the assassination.
