Twitter is testing a new place to show ads

Regular Twitter users are certainly accustomed to the frustrating fact that ads appear on the feed every now and then, but it seems the company plans to have another place where they could post them - in the middle of responding to the post.

"As of today, we are testing a new ad format in Tweet conversations. If you’re part of this test (which is global: on iOS and Android only), you'll notice these ads after the first, third, or eighth response under the tweet, wrote the company’s product and revenue manager, Bruce Falck.

Judging by the GIF posted by Falck, ads in the middle of the response don’t seem like a good option. They take the place of more interesting content, and during extensive discussions, users are likely to accidentally click on an ad.

We’ll test different frequencies, layouts, contextually relevant ads, different insertion points, etc. And we’ll examine our learnings and figure out if it’s something we want to make permanent, ”concludes Falck.

It seems that Twitter users are not happy with the new place for ads.

"I understand that you need to make money, but we are already overwhelmed with ads. If the value of those between the answers is higher, then remove the ads from the main timeline, "wrote one Twitter user.
