Value: Android smartphones vs. Apple iPhones
If you are planning to sell your phone before buying a new one, you should know these facts as well.
Everyone knows that smartphones lose value over time, and it's no secret that for some the price is falling faster than others - after all, the used phone market is booming and it is irrefutable proof of everything that follows.
This seems to apply first to all Android phones, including flagships, and a new report points out that the Galaxy S22 series is losing its value almost three times faster than the iPhone 13.
However, if you follow the developments in the market at all, this is not surprising.
It has long been known that iPhones retain their value over a long period of time, so although Google partners produce some of the best phones in the smartphone domain, the value of all Android phones is falling faster than the value of iPhone smartphones.
The company SellCell analyzed the values of trade-in offers in the US market for Galaxy S22, iPhone 13, and Google Pixel 6 during the first and second months since each device was launched.
That analysis found that the Galaxy S22 lost the highest value by an average of 51.1% compared to the iPhone 13 and its value loss of only 16.4%. Google Pixel 6, which is still officially unavailable in our country, took second place with an average depreciation of 43.5%.
The report also offers a little more detail on the depreciation of each model observed and how the trend for each of them develops over the two months after launch. According to these data, it seems that the trade-in values for the Galaxy S22 series will no longer fall after the second month of its arrival on the market.
So, if you are planning to change your Android phone, you should, in theory, do it as soon as possible, which doesn't make sense, but the indicators on the market are like that.
On the other hand, when it comes to Samsung phones, no other Android manufacturer supports their devices like Samsung, which for a flagship, and even devices that are not, offers three and four years of Android OS updates and four or five years of security and Google patch.
For many, support is more important than how much the phone will sell in a year or two.
