WHICH IPHONE WILL GET IOS 16

At its WWDC 2022 event, Apple introduced iOS 16 and announced which devices will receive new software, but which will not.

This practically completes the journey for the iPhone 6 and 7 series, but also for the premiere iPhone SE, which will receive all editions of iOS 15. X software, until the fall of iOS 16.

Knowing which phones will not get iOS 16 and finding out which phones will get it - all from the iPhone 8 series onwards, means that we will be able to install iOS 16 on as many as 19 iPhones.

The new iOS 16 will be available for all Apple phones from the list at the same time, approximately in the second half of September this year, if there is no delay, which is not certain now.

Which phones will get iOS 16:

  • iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, from 2017
  • iPhone X, from the same year
  • iPhone XS, XS Max, from 2018
  • iPhone XR, from the same year
  • iPhone 11, Pro, Pro Max, from 2019
  • iPhone 12, Mini, Pro, Pro Max, from 2020
  • iPhone 13, Mini, Pro, Pro Max, from 2021 and
  • iPhone SE second and third-generation devices.

With four iPhone 14 models, which will be announced in September, there are 23 iPhone models, which will run on the latest software.

As a reminder, the 2016 iPhone SE has received support for six years since its release, while the iPhone 6 model, i.e.this series of devices has received support for as long as seven years - this is an impressive statistic, especially considering the fact that the iPhone SE is not a premium, ie. flagship Apple phone.
