Why making love could actually help you sleep better?

Most people are struggling to sleep right now as they battle the heat amid the high summer temperatures. The period of hot weather will certainly last and the thermometer will show us more than 95 degrees in the coming period. This means that many people barely manage to fall asleep, while others resort to turning on the fan or air conditioning to cool the room.

However, there may be something more fun that could help you get a good night's sleep in the heat - sex. Sleep expert James Wilson, also known as The Sleep Geek, told the Mirror:

Some biological processes that occur during sex can negatively affect sleep, especially the increase in heart rate and the release of adrenaline, especially if it is quite strong. But it also helps us feel emotionally connected, and orgasm leads to the release of hormones like prolactin and oxytocin - the cuddle hormone.

This makes us feel relaxed and calm, which is the perfect state for a good night's sleep. It also reduces levels of cortisol, the wake-up hormone that increases stress levels.

James also says that if you're sleeping next to someone, the best thing you can do to prevent overheating during a heatwave is to have a separate sheet to cover yourself to prevent their body heat from heating up your bed space.
In order to cool down before you go to sleep, James says you shouldn't even take a cold shower. Instead, he advises:

To lower the temperature in the heart and help the process that helps us sleep, bathe or shower only with lukewarm water. Obviously, if you shower with cold water, then the cold shock will actually wake you up and convince your body that it needs to raise its temperature.
