Will Nicolas Cage film "National Treasure 3"
Cage was fantastic as Benjamin Franklin Gates.
Nicolas Cage has played a variety of roles in his career, but "National Treasure" is a genuinely unique film for his admirers. Not only did Cage display all of his acting abilities in it, but the plot was also entertaining. It's no surprise that rumors of a third sequel pop up now and then.
Cage played Benjamin Franklin Gates, a brilliant treasure hunter who goes in search of hidden riches by deciphering the cryptic map scribbled on the back of the Declaration of Independence.
In a recent conversation with E! News, producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed:
- We said we'd like to do another National Treasure, and they [Disney] said, 'Sure, let's come up with a new cast.' At the same time, we are developing "National Treasure" for the theater with Nicolas Cage. So it's ongoing.
Earlier this year, Cage talked about a potential follow-up with GK:
- The phone stopped ringing. It was like, "What do you mean we're not doing National Treasure 3?" 14 years have passed. Why not?' Well, [Disney's] "Sorcerer's Apprentice" didn't do well, and "Ghost Rider" didn't really sell tickets. And "Drive Angry," which just came and went.
The actor added:
- I enjoy shooting films like "Pig" and "Leaving Las Vegas" more than films like "National Treasure".
While talks for a third sequel are still ongoing, "National Treasure: Edge of History," a new Disney+ series based on the property, has recently aired.
We will see the famous actor in two new films next year
- I haven't played in a musical yet. I'd like to try it once, even though I'm not much of a singer. I think I sang pretty well in the movie "Wild at Heart", and then I saw how my voice sounded singing "Purple Rain" in karaoke bars - said Nicolas Cage, "Deadline" reports.
In an interview with Empire, he noted that he often structured his parts so that he would find inspiration in great pieces of art, such as the iconic picture "The Scream" by Edvard Munch, which served to prepare him for his character in the movie "Ghost Rider".
Until Nicolas Cage appears in the musical, we may see him in the western "The Old Way," which opens on January 6, and Dracula in the horror comedy "Renfield," which opens on April 14.
