Older generations will be reminded of Hollywood comedian Richard Pryor and the original adaptation of the film "Toy," while younger generations will chuckle at sequences with the brilliant comedian Jamel Debbouze and the iconic, award-winning actor Daniel Auteuil.
Can money buy a new toy in the form of a human for a pampered child?
Inspired by the cult classic "The New Toy," which was also Francis Weber's debut work as a screenwriter and filmmaker in 1976, director James Huth filmed the current comedy "The New Toy," for which he also created an adapted screenplay.
The film will be released in theaters on Thursday, December 29.
"I saw it ten times," says producer Richard Grandpierre of the first picture, which left an indelible impression on him. "I'd always wanted to adapt it because it was a comedy as well as a social criticism."
One of France's most well-known performers, Jamel Debuz, and multi-award winner Daniel Auteuil, found themselves in the same frame of the remake and the famous script, "NEW TOY," in front of the same camera.
Sammy and his wife Alice live contentedly in an impoverished urban neighborhood surrounded by friends and neighbors. For his son's birthday, France's richest father opened his department store and let the child choose whatever he wanted. Sammy, the night watchman, is Alexander's latest toy.
The realization, whose movie trailer makes people laugh and hints at a comical New Year's week, will entertain a wider audience, but will also remind older viewers of the first remake of the movie "Toy" from 1982, with the once willing Hollywood comedian Richard Pryor, who entertained audiences around the world in those years, along with countless of his comedies.
