Will Smith Makes New Career Decision

The actor released a statement.

Will Smith has withdrawn from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, almost a week after rocking the Oscars by hitting presenter Chris Rock in the face. In a statement, the King Richard star stated, "I have personally replied to the Academy's disciplinary hearing notification, and I will entirely accept any and all repercussions for my behavior." "My behavior at the 94th Academy Awards was startling, unpleasant, and unforgivable. Chris, his family, many of my good friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home are among the people I have injured. I broke the Academy's confidence."

"I robbed other candidates and winners of their chance to enjoy and be honored for their amazing work," he concluded. I'm devastated.

"I'd want to focus attention on those who deserve it for their accomplishments, allowing the Academy to return to its core mission of supporting cinematic innovation and originality."

Will summed up his remarks by saying: "As a result, I am resigning from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and I will accept any additional repercussions imposed by the Board. Change takes time, and I'm determined to put in the effort necessary to guarantee that violence never again triumphs over reason." The President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, David Rubin, made a notice after Will's departure.

Mr. Will Smith's immediate resignation from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has been received and accepted," he told. "We will continue pursuing our disciplinary procedures against Mr. Smith for violations of the Academy's Standards of Conduct until our next planned board meeting on April 18." Will smacked Chris across the face when he joked about Jada Pinkett-hair Smith's loss.

The actress had alopecia, and the actor was offended by his witty remark.

In a long Instagram post, he apologized to the comic, writing: "Chris, I'd want to openly apologize to you. I was both out of line and incorrect. I'm embarrassed, and my actions don't reflect the kind of man I want to be. Aggression has no place in a society of love and peace."
