Biostar sells miners with eight RX-6600 GPUs
Biostar has introduced the iMiner 660MX8D2, a new miner that is supposed to dig for Ethereum using eight Navi-23 GPUs. The built-in Radeon graphics cards are referred to as RX 6600M, while the identical GPUs are also used in the RX 6600 and RX 6600 XT desktop graphics cards.
Although the graphics card market has improved in recent weeks and months, most RTX 3000 and RX 6000 graphics cards are still more expensive than the RRP and hence out of reach for many gamers. Aside from the increased demand from gamers, cryptocurrencies are frequently blamed for the current predicament.
Ethereum farms, in particular, are very interested in current graphics cards because they mine more efficiently and hence profitably. However, graphics cards purchased through mining farms are not available in the gaming industry, which drives up prices.
A new mining computer from Biostar is an illustration of the increasing demand from miners. The iMiner 660MX8D2 is a new model from the firm that is supposed to be especially suitable for mining ether currency. In addition to an adapted mainboard of the type TB360-BTC D+, eight Biostar graphics cards based on AMD's Navi 23 GPU are employed.
The miner has equipped with Radeon RX 6600M laptop graphics cards, according to Biostar. Their GPUs are the same as those found in the RX 6600 and RX 6600 XT. It is unclear why Biostar does not directly use the matching desktop models. Higher efficiency or simply availability, for example, could be achieved using AMD.
Aside from the odd graphical technology, the mining computer is unremarkable. As an example, the CPU is an Intel Celeron G4900. In addition, there is 8 GB of RAM and a 120 GB SSD. As a result, the system is entirely focused on mining cryptocurrencies that demand GPU power.
The price of the miner is presently unknown because Biostar exclusively sells the iMiner 660MX8D2 on direct request. There appears to be demand since the company launched another miner with eight RX-580 graphics cards only a month and a half ago.
