Actress Zara Phythian faces a prison sentence along with her husband after she was found guilty of abusing a teenage girl.
Phythian, who starred in Marvel’s 2016 film Doctor Strange, also runs the Martial Arts Academy. She was found guilty in a Nottingham court on 14 counts of sexually abusing a child aged 13-15. According to the indictment, the crimes were committed between 2005 and 2008. Jurors also convicted the husband of the 37-year-old actress, Victor Marke, a martial arts instructor, for the same 14 offenses, but they also charged him of abusing another underage girl on at least eight occasions between 2002 and 2003. The actress denied pedophile abuse.
The trial began on April 26 when prosecutors said the couple had multiple sexual acts with a young girl in Nottinghamshire. In her testimony via video link at the trial, the girl said that Phythian encouraged her to orally satisfy Mark and that threesome sex followed.
In an interview with the police, she said: 'I knew it was wrong, but I just didn't know how to get out of that situation or how to tell anyone.'The jurors unanimously convicted the couple after two days of deliberation.
