Discover the struggle for survival: "Society of the Snow" movie!

The Spanish candidate for the Oscar for best foreign film, the movie "Society of the Snow", was presented these days with a new official trailer.

The film is based on an incredible true story, and the director's baton is held by JA Bayona, the filmmaker who made the acclaimed Spanish horror "Orphanage". This Filmmaker has experience in filming true stories and survival stories, as he also made the film "Impossible" with Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor in 2012.

The official synopsis of the new film reveals the main plot:

The year is 1972, Uruguayan Airlines Flight 571 was carrying a rugby team to Chile and it crashed catastrophically into a glacier in the middle of the Andes. Only 29 of the 45 passengers survived the plane crash, but now they find themselves in the middle of the most unforgiving terrain on Earth where they are forced to take extreme measures to survive.

The accident happened when the pilots started landing the plane too early because they were sure they had reached their destination, even though it was still 60 or 70 kilometers away. The pilots were unaware that they were descending into the heart of the Andes, and after the plane crashed into the mountain, the survivors began a difficult and uncertain struggle for survival.

The incredible true story was already screened in 1993 in the film "The Survivors", directed by Frank Marshall and with Ethan Hawke in one of the roles. Despite the film's success, director Bayona decided to show the same story but this time he used interviews with survivors and their families to create a truer story.

The film is screened at a number of film festivals around the world, where it met with positive reviews. It will be released worldwide in cinemas in mid-December before arriving on Netflix on January 4.
